The Or Shalom Ceasefire Circle is a space for Or Shalom members who are in support of a ceasefire in Israel and Palestine to learn together and organize toward a just peace in the region. Being part of the group serves to empower and encourage us to find effective ways to act to help end the violence and destruction, and to act in solidarity with other individuals and groups that are working for peace.
Currently, we are actively supporting Hussam, a young man in Gaza who is sheltering in a bombed-out apartment along with his mother, Raeda, who has a kidney condition. During an Israeli attack, Hussam’s younger brother was killed and Hussam was shot. He now has shrapnel lodged painfully in his pelvis, severely restricting his mobility and requiring surgery no longer available in Gaza. The Ceasefire Circle is fundraising to assist with the family’s daily needs such as food, potable water, warm clothing and bedding. We are also seeking out connections and raising additional funding for his eventual medical evacuation. We invite you to join us.
