We Rise, Together
It is said that when the Israelites left Mitzrayim (the narrow place), an "Erev Rav" — a mixed multitude — rose with them.
Who was this "Erev Rav?" They were peoples of Mitzrayim, who chose to throw in their lot with that of the Israelites, many far before this moment of Exodus and guaranteed liberation.
Corners of rabbinic tradition have seen the "Erev Rav" as “the problem” — the source of the Israelites’ troubles, both historically and throughout Jewish history.
But we know that we are better, together. We know that no one is free until all of us are free, and in order to get free, we all must rise,
together.
So join us this High Holidays season to rise, in our bountiful, beautiful mixity, toward the better world we all deserve.
We warmly welcome our members, non-members, friends, and the curious to explore our wide range of High Holy Days programming.

Or Shalom High Holy Day Tzedakah Campaign
One of the primary things asked of us during the High Holy Day season is tzedakah — acts of justice and giving. To aid you in your tzedakah efforts this year, Or Shalom is inviting all of our members and friends to support two vital food justice efforts:
Gaza Soup Kitchen
Or Shalom is joining with Jews For Food Aid For People In Gaza for its High Holidays Tzedakah Campaign, which aims to raise $180,000 for the Gaza Soup Kitchen before Yom Kippur. The cost of the Gaza Soup Kitchen’s operations is $15,000 per day to run seven kitchens throughout Gaza. This Tzedakah Campaign will ensure their kitchens are functional every day of aseret yimei teshuvah, the ten days of repentance between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

SF-Marin Food Bank
More than 53,000 households rely on the Food Bank every week, up from 32,000 before the pandemic. Children, seniors, and low-wage earners are most affected. Every $1 = 2 meals.
