Part-Time Bookkeeper

Hours: 2-4 hours/week; fully remote. 
Compensation: $60/hour (depending on experience)

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, this position is responsible for performing bookkeeping duties including but not limited to, bank account reconciliations, recording transactions, including accounts payable, receivable and general ledger. The bookkeeper will meet regularly with the treasurer and/or other members of the finance committee to review financial reports and account reconciliations.

The bookkeeper will have advanced experience with Quickbooks Online, experience working in the nonprofit setting, an outgoing and friendly personality, demonstrated professionalism and a focus on accuracy.  In addition, the bookkeeper will have responsibility for transferring accounts receivable data from Shulcloud, our online accounts receivable member interface, into QuickbooksOnline.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable;

  • Transaction Entries: accurately post revenue and expense that reflects general ledger and balance sheet entries;

  • Bank reconciliations and Accounting for month-end close;

  • Comprehensive review of Balance Sheet, Income/Expense Report, & Aged Receivables;

  • Monitor cash flow, account balances, and availability.

  • Collaborate with treasurer and executive director to reconcile member donations and payment discrepancies, ensuring they are accounted for accurately.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced proficiency in Quickbooks Online;
  • Familiarity with bill.com a plus;
  • Nonprofit experience, including familiarity with use of restricted funds & accounts;
  • Familiarity with Jewish holidays and lifecycle events a plus;
  • Three to five years bookkeeping experience;
  • Additional proficiency with Excel and Google Sheets;
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; ability to manage priorities and workflow.
